Our Veterinarian Stacey Scanlon, DVM
Stacey Scanlon, DVM was greatly influenced by her time spent on her family’s dairy farm, Lynnacres Registered Holsteins, in New Tripoli, PA. She showed cows and pigs in 4-H at the local fairs and was the Salutatorian of her graduating class at Northwestern Lehigh High School in 1998. She went on to major in Animal Sciences at Penn State University, where she graduated as Student Marshal of the spring graduating class of the College of Agricultural Sciences in 2002. She then attended The Ohio State University, where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2006.
Dr. Scanlon was initially a dairy veterinarian in Wisconsin, but decided to change career paths to small animal medicine and surgery. To facilitate this, she completed a small animal emergency internship at Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center, where she remained for several years thereafter as a staff emergency veterinarian.
She since moved back to her stomping grounds in Pennsylvania and worked at local general and emergency practices, in addition to aero-commuting to a busy small animal emergency practice in San Francisco, California. She now loves being a practice owner! She continually strives to promote a positive working environment and also make a difference in the community.
Dr. Scanlon enjoys all of the diverse aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery, in particular client education and developing long-term relationships with clients and their pets. When she is not at work, she is spending time with her family, serving as a leader of the Lehigh County 4-H Dairy Club, and relaxing with her pets.
Renee Somishka Head Veterinary Technician
Renee has always had a love of animals. Starting as early as her high school years, she worked in the animal industry doing various animal shelter and kennel jobs. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Mansfield University, then her Veterinary Technician Associates degree from Northampton Community College/Lehigh Carbon Community College in 2016. Since graduating from the veterinary technician program, she has had ample experience as a technician in a hospital setting. Her hobbies include fishing, archery, and fitness. She also enjoys spending time with her mastiff and 4 snakes. Renee has owned many large breed dogs over the years, which have given her invaluable experience handling large dogs in a veterinary setting.
Hannah Fam Veterinary Technician Assistant, Inventory Manager
Hannah has been in the veterinary field since 2018. She has gained invaluable hands-on experience over the years and is very proficient in her role as a technician assistant. Hannah is always eager to take on different responsibilities, including the huge task of being our inventory manager. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, in addition to doing projects around the house. She is known for being a “cat whisperer,” especially for those cats who are scared to come to the vet.
Christopher Duarte Veterinary Technician Assistant
Chris grew up with pets, but ultimately realized his passion for veterinary medicine in college. He started shadowing at Sunflower Veterinary Center and was eventually hired on as a technician assistant. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kutztown University and is enjoying learning all the different aspects of veterinary medicine. He is driven and readily takes on any task assigned to him. In his free time, he can be found at the gym and spending time with his family.
Ashley Hawk Certified Veterinary Technician, Client Service Representative
Ashley has had a lifelong love of animals. She graduated from Lehigh Carbon Community College in 2007 and is a Certified Veterinary Technician. Her experience has given her the opportunity to care for a wide variety of animals, with a special fondness for small dogs, cats, and pocket pets. She enjoys making memories with her two daughters. They also have a house full of pets, including Chihuahuas, cats, ferrets, a lizard, and rats.
