About Sunflower Veterinary Center
Every pet has their own personality, every family has their own story, and every visit gives us an opportunity to get to know both a little better. At Sunflower Veterinary Center, we believe great veterinary care begins with listening, building trust, and treating people with the same kindness we show their pets.
As a locally owned animal hospital in Fogelsville, PA, we're proud to care for dogs and cats from New Tripoli, Breinigsville, Orefield, West Allentown, and our surrounding communities. We take the time to understand your pet's needs, your concerns, and your circumstances before making recommendations.
The Story Behind Our Name
There's a very personal story behind our name.
In 2017, Dr. Stacey Scanlon unexpectedly lost her mother, Imogene Dietrich. To honor her memory, Dr. Scanlon's father, William, planted fields of sunflowers at their family farm in Germansville, PA. What began as a heartfelt tribute soon became a beloved local attraction, drawing visitors from near and far to experience the beautiful blooms.
Imogene was a devoted mother, a loyal friend, and a dedicated Air Products employee for more than 40 years. Above all, she was known for her generosity, patience, and kindness toward others.
When Dr. Scanlon opened Sunflower Veterinary Center, she wanted to carry those same qualities into the practice. Today, our name serves as a daily reminder of the compassion that inspired it and the way we want every person and pet to feel when they walk through our doors.
Our Mission: Exceptional Care, Individually Delivered
Our mission is simple: to help every pet live an exceptional, individualized life through compassionate veterinary care and complete transparency.
That means listening before making recommendations, explaining your options clearly, and creating a care plan that makes sense for your pet and your family. We believe you deserve to feel informed, respected, and confident in the decisions you make for your pet.
Meet the Veterinarian Behind Sunflower Dr. Stacey Scanlon
Dr. Scanlon's love for animals started close to home, growing up on her family's dairy farm right here in Pennsylvania. That early connection eventually led her to Penn State University for her undergraduate degree and The Ohio State University, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
Following veterinary school, she completed a small animal emergency internship, gaining additional experience in emergency and critical care. Her career has taken her through both general and emergency veterinary practices in Pennsylvania and even to a busy emergency hospital in San Francisco, where she commuted by air to practice veterinary medicine.
But home has always held a special place in her heart.
Today, Dr. Scanlon loves serving the community where she grew up. As the owner of Sunflower Veterinary Center, she enjoys building lasting relationships with pets and their families, combining her medical experience with the personal connection that makes neighborhood veterinary care so meaningful.
Proud to Grow Alongside Our Community
Our roots run deep in the Lehigh Valley, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
For Dr. Scanlon, being part of this community extends well beyond the exam room. She serves as a leader of the Lehigh County 4-H Dairy Club, sharing her agricultural background and helping support the next generation.
Inside the hospital, we're equally committed to creating a welcoming environment where our team enjoys coming to work and our clients feel comfortable asking questions. We're proud to be an independent, locally owned practice, and we value the relationships we build with the people and pets who make this community home.
Good People Make Great Veterinary Care Possible
Behind every appointment, phone call, and wagging tail is a team of people who genuinely enjoy what they do.
Our veterinary technicians, technician assistants, and client service representatives bring years of hands-on experience, a shared love for animals, and plenty of heart to their work. From helping nervous pets settle in to answering questions and celebrating little victories, they're a big part of what makes Sunflower feel like Sunflower.
We'd love for you to get to know them!
A Different Approach, With Your Pet in Mind
We believe how we care matters just as much as the care itself.
From using Fear Free handling techniques to talking through treatment recommendations and providing clear estimates before procedures, we want you to know what to expect every step of the way. We take your questions seriously, respect your decisions, and recognize that every pet deserves an approach that works for them.
